19th WARD COMMUNITY CATS

We’re a group of individuals concerned about the well being of stray, abandoned and feral cats in the 19th Ward of Rochester, NY with the goal of creating a neighborhood where cats are treated humanely. Operating for over a decade, we have TNRd hundreds of cats and assisted their caretakers. If you are feeding, or know of feral or stray cats, we can get them TNRd and possibly assist with short term feeding. While we are not an adoption agency, we can provide information and support. For assistance with feral cats, answers to questions or to join our cause, please visit our Face Book page at www.facebook.com/groups/19thwcc.com

OUR MISSION

  • Addressing The Needs of Our Feral, Abandoned and Stray Cats by Trap, Neuter and Return (TNR)

  • Improving the 19th Ward neighborhood of Rochester, NY by Reducing Our Outdoor Cat Population Through TNR

  • Advocating For Responsible Pet Ownership and Spay/Neuter

  • Fostering a Good Relationship Between Cats and People

WHAT IS A FERAL or COMMUNITY CAT

A feral cat is an outdoor cat, living on its own or in a colony of other cats. Typically wary of humans, they are not socialized. To keep them healthy and safe and reduce their population over time they should be trapped, neutered, vaccinated and returned to their outside home or colony. Afterward they will no longer have litters and will stop fighting and roaming. To indicate that a feral cat has been neutered, most clinics will tip the cats left ear.

Kittens, Kittens and More Kittens

They’re so cute, they’re so fluffy, and so helpless but if you find a litter of kittens, please do not take them inside until you determine that the mother is gone or deceased. We can help! Contact our Face Book page for assistance!
